Rehabilitation Services

Gifford offers a wife variety of rehabilitation services for both inpatients and outpatients.
An inpatient sub-acute rehabilitation unit is available for patients requiring rehabilitation services such as physical and occupational therapies, nursing care or respite care. The unit helps patients regain strength
and independence to return to the home environment following an illness or injury, or
transition to a nursing home. The unit even provides a safe place for people in need of rehabilitation therapies and nursing care to stay while home caregivers are away.
Outpatient rehabilitation services include physical, occupational and speech therapies aimed at helping patients overcome injuries or impairments and return to everyday activities. The latest physical therapy programs include specialized exercises to improve bowel or urinary incontinence through the Continence Program and the addition of the Balance Center. The Balance Center treats conditions such as vertigo and vestibular imbalances. A new piece of equipment used for balance therapy, shown right, provides the latest technology to patients of rural region. Aquatics therapy is also offered at both Vermont Technical College's SHAPE facility in Randolph Center and the new Upper Valley Aquatic Center in White River Junction.
Appointments begin at 8 a.m. weekdays, and our team of physical therapists offers some early evening appointments. Outpatient physical therapy appointments are available at Gifford's Kingwood Health Center, Sharon Health Center and at Advance Physical Therapy in Wilder. Outpatient pediatric physical therapy is offered at the hospital in Randolph.
