Thank you!

Gifford offers special care in a garden-side suite for

dying patients and their families as well as a host of other services. The ride pays for lots of "extras" for those patients and families, such as massages, acupuncture and Reiki for pain management; bereavement packets and mailers; comfort carts, or food for patients' families; Legacy Projects, or professional family photos; education and training for our staff; and lots, lots more.

A community hospice choir, River Bend, has been formed to sing at the bedsides of the dying at Gifford and in community members' homes since the inception of the Last Mile Ride. A Grief and Loss group has also just been created to help and Gifford is working hard to help more people complete Advance Directives.

Even if you're not familiar with any of these services, however, there are still plenty of reasons to join the Last Mile Ride. Top among them is that it is fun!

The ride takes motorcyclists through about 100 miles of Vermont's beautiful countryside (with a mid-ride break). It is escorted by Orange County Sheriff Bill Bohnyak and road guards from the Vermont chapter of the Combat Veterans Motorcycle Association.

There's a live band on the day of the event, lunch and morning coffee and snacks, massages, commemorative pins and T-shirts, and terrific prizes for riders who raise the most for the cause. And, new this year, we are raffling off a 2009 Yamaha V Star 950 thanks to the generosity of our incredible sponsor, Lucky's Motor Sports in South Royalton, Vt.

The cost is $50 for one rider and $75 for two riders (on one bike). Riders need not pay the money themselves. They can fundraise the fee by asking friends and family for donations.

Raffle tickets are $40 each or three for $100. They're for sale at Gifford in Randolph (you can call us (802) 728-2380 and at Lucky's, where the bike is on display. It's also pictured below.
